Statement of Aims

Statement of Aims

For my coursework I will be focusing on television marketing. It will be based on an original tv show that I created called Double Dynamics produced by BBC 1.

I will be producing a short clip from episode 1 of my tv show: Double Dynamics. When shooting my short clip, I will be including different locations so that I can show my storyline and how it progresses. I will also have a variety of different lighting to represent the mood of the scene, for example when my main characters (Ocean & Celine) are having an argument in the recording studio, there will be dark blue lighting to portray the serious mood. My short clip will also involve a wide range of camera angles and shots which can be used to create meaning for example, a close up shot of Ocean's face when she is crying will highlight and put focus on her emotions and a high angle shot will show that she is feeling vulnerable and weak. There will be mise-en-scene that can help the audience easily identify what type of tv show Double Dynamics is. My main characters will act and dress in a way that will attract the target audience ( 18-34 year old's). My short clip will show the key moments of the storyline that is needed for the tv show to progress for example, the fight between Ocean and Celine that causes them to break their group and go their separate ways. I will have characters that represent different social groups, such as age, gender, race. There will be diegetic sounds such a music and singing as this is a musically based tv show. There will also be non-diegetic sounds such as sad instrumentals over scenes that are emotional, which will add the mood of the scene. The editing will consist of sharp and smooth cuts for example, there will be a sharp cut from the chaotic scene of fighting, loud noises and dark lighting to a calm scene where it is quiet and bright.

The name of the magazine that I will be making is 'Award'. I chose Award because it is distantly related to the television industry. An award is what is given to the tv show to show them acknowledgement for their work and achievements so this is something that tv shows strive for. My magazine will be aimed at 18-34 year old's and to make this clear I will be using more mature language. The strap-line will be "No.1 Bestseller TV Magazine". This will show that Award is a very good and popular magazine that will prompt people into buying it. It will also show that it is better than its competitors. Award will be in a fancy font and different from the cover lines so that it stands out more on the page. The cover lines will be linked towards the theme of my magazine. I will have one cover line to introduce my tv show production interview, another one to address the audience, another one talking about other tv shows/movies and another talking about actual film awards. The magazine will cost £1.99, an appropriate price considering my target audience (18-34 year old's). The main image/cover model will be a long shot of one of the main characters in my tv show, Ocean (Arianna Richards) - the person getting interviewed in the double page spread. She will be in front of the title of the magazine to show that she is more important and is the main point of interest. The primary representation on my front cover will be a black female in her 30s. This will therefore interest people from those representative groups. There will also be an advertisement of a camera, which links to the television industry. The color scheme of the front cover will be white writing on a dark (almost black/grey) background. This will show that this is a magazine of high quality.

I will also be producing a double page spread for my tv show. The title of my article will be "Double Dynamics" because that is the name of the show. The article will be an interview with Arianna and include an introduction of what the tv show is about and behind the scene stories. The article will also include information of when the tv show is going to air (day & time). I will structure the interview in columns, with the questions as subheadings and have the headline (name of the interview) stand out at the top of the page. I will also have pictures of Arianna in the article. I will also have Double Dynamics' social media in the article and the magazines social media at the bottom of the page.
